THE PEOPLE'S POLICE
The responsibilities of Constables in Alabama are significant and
include serving the community as well as working with legislators in
order to plan for and meet the demands of the future. By utilizing
the skills of the Constables, other agencies are relieved of such duties as
serving warrants, providing escorts, and securing civic events, which
allows the other agencies to target high crime and improve their
response times. Simply having
the presence of men and women in uniform and marked vehicles in the
community will help reduce crime on our streets and in our
neighborhoods. All the while, the Constable system
remains the most cost effective system in America today and is of no expense to the taxpayer but is paid
for on a fee basis by
the wrongdoer.
STATEMENT OF COMMON PURPOSE
The purpose of the Alabama Constable is to uphold the law fairly and
firmly, to prevent crime, and to pursue and bring to justice those who
break the law. By doing so, Constables help to maintain peace and
establish a source of protection and reassurance to the community.
In every aspect of their duties, Constables strive to act with integrity, common sense and sound
judgment. |
